Fog to Blanket Santa Monica Friday Night

A dense fog advisory is in effect along the Los Angeles coastline through Saturday morning.

Thick fog will creep into Santa Monica Friday night, lingering through Saturday morning.

Visibility will drop down to one-quarter mile across the immediate coast of much of Los Angeles County, according to the National Weather Service.

The Weather Service issued a dense fog advisory Friday afternoon that is in effect until 8 a.m. Saturday. The advisory cautions drivers that the fog will make driving difficult on the 405 freeway and Pacific Coast Highway.

"If driving, slow down, use your headlights and leave plenty of distance ahead of you. Fog can also make road surfaces slick so avoid using excess speed," forecasters said.
