Looking for something to do in costume? Here are several Halloween events happening this week in Santa Monica:
Digital Boo! L.A.'s First Tech Halloween Party
When: Monday, Oct. 29; 7-11 p.m.
Where: 604 Arizona Ave. (Roc)
What: Put on your tech-themed costumes for this party meant to celebrate the birth of the Internet and Halloween. It's called Digital Boo! and it's being put on by Digital L.A., a networking organization for professionals in digital fields. There will be cocktails, an in-costume graphic design panel for app creators, a costume competition with prizes, and cake-cutting with UCLA professor Leo Kleinrock, "Father of the Internet."
Paranoia Haunted Attraction
When: Tuesday, Oct. 30-31; 7 p.m. - 2 a.m.
Where: 315 Colorado Ave (Santa Monica Place, 3rd Level)
What: These mazes aren't for the weak of heart, or children under 12. With names like “The Infirmary,” “Insomniac Clown Playhouse” and “Granny’s Manor of Mayhem,” this frightening function is sure to haunt your nights through Thanksgiving.
Smoke and Mirrors
When: Wednesday, Oct. 31; 8 p.m.
Where: 1404 3rd Street Promenade (Promenade Playhouse & Conservatory)
What: Spend Halloween with noted actor and magician, Hollywood Magic Castle's Albie Selznick as he explores the magic, drama and comedy(?) of Halloween. This is a special Halloween performance of "Smoke and Mirrors," a magical, coming-of-age tale that incorporates drama with magic tricks and illusion.
Dia de los Muertos Mexican Celebration
When: Saturday, Nov. 3; 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Where: 1847 14th St. (Woodlawn Cemetery)
What: Celebrate the Day of the Dead with artist Paulina Sahagun at the Woodlawn Cemetery. This Mexican celebration to honor one's ancestors will include various arts and crafts, music and fresh tamales.
