"Large breakers impacting the coast will cause a high risk of rip currents and the possibility of minor tidal overflow at times of high tide," the National Weather Service warned.

A 26-year-old man died Monday night off the coast of Huntington Beach after he and his friend were caught in a riptide during high-surf in deadly cold waters.

Meanwhile, temperatures will remain well above normal, although slightly cooler than Wednesday's. A daytime high of 76 degrees is forecast Thursday, followed by a major cool down Friday when highs will return to the low 60s.

A warming trend is forecast for the early part of next week.
