The Main Event

  • A proposed mixed-use project at 2848-2912 Colorado Ave.—dubbed the "Roberts Center"—will be discussed tonight at the meeting. Also on the agenda are the LED Streetlighting and Pier Lighting Retrofit projects and new prices at the Woodlawn Cemetery.   • Apartment owners will break out their calculators at a workshop where they can figure out this year's general rent adjustment and surcharges. The Calculating the Annual Rent Increase meeting takes place at City Hall's from 6 to 9 p.m.

  • Tired of making the same old dinner? Learn how to cook a slew of meals—including Greek Lemon Chicken Skewers With Tzatsiki and Tuscan Chicken with Prosciutto and Basil—at 's Chicken in a Jiffy cooking class. It's happening from 2 to 5 p.m. and costs $90; go here for more info.
  • Non-drug solutions to treating diabetes will be the topic of discussion at the YMCA (1332 Sixth St.) tonight from 6 to 7 p.m. Go here for more info on the free diabetes lecture, which will be led by Dr. Gloria Phillips.
  • The will hold an information session tonight for prospective members of its Master's Programs in Spiritual Psychology. The school, which accepts 255 students to the program annually, is currently accepting applications for the fall. The information session will take place at the college campus from 7:15 to 9:30 p.m.

  • Up for a swim? Head over to the from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., when a new open-ocean swimming class will begin.

This Day in Santa Monica History

  • On July 12, 2004, the Spanish Colonial Revival Commercial Building was designed as a landmark. Located at 1337 Ocean Ave., the building was constructed in 1926.
