  • There's good news for Selena Gomez fans who have been bummed about of her planned Friday appearance at on Friday. The pop singer/ actress/ girlfriend of Justin Bieber has rescheduled her concert and Q&A session for today starting at 4 p.m., according to AccessHollywood.com.

  • Green alert: The role of parks in urban settings will be discussed in the 's MLK Auditorium at 7 p.m. Hear what landscape architect James Corner, who is working on the designs for in Santa Monica, has to say about the value of parks to urban environments.

Other Happenings

  • Also at the MLK Auditorium, a screening of the Alfred Hitchcock classic North by Northwest will take place from 1 to 3:15 p.m. It's free, of course.
  • Author Ann Patchett will drop by as part of a tour in support of her acclaimed new book, State of Wonder. She'll talk about the tome with New York Times contributor Maile Meloy starting at 8 p.m. at Track 16. Tickets range from $20 to $95, and a reception will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Filmmaker Sarolta Jane Cump will chat about California Is an Island, her experimental documentary, as part of this evening's Documental program at . The movie "uses lushly shot re-enactments, animations of re-appropriated map graphics and text to investigate the fantasies, fears and fetishes of European explorers with a post-colonial, queer lens and a bawdy sense of humor to boot," Documental creator Gerry Fialka said. The free event starts at 9 p.m.
