The Main Event

  • Hungry for a good movie? You're in luck: The Good Food Film Festival starts tonight at the at 7:30 p.m. The fest is recognizing the 30th anniversary of the Santa Monica farmers market and will revolve around food, farms and farmers. Tonight's flicks are the 30-minute Big River, focusing on farming practices in Iowa; and The Greenhorns, a 50-minute documentary about young farmers. SlowFood LA Chairperson Lisa Lucas will moderate a panel discussion after the screenings. Go here for more info.

  • It's Artist Night at the , where they will sketch, paint and take pics of the marine center’s 100-plus local species on exhibit. (And yes, that includes the new .) Other Happenings

  • From 4 to 7 p.m., hosts a grand opening and open house surrounding its new cutting-edge technology center, funded by Microsoft. SMBGC CEO Aaron Young, Santa Monica Mayor and Tyler Bryson—general manager of Enterprise and Partners Group in Microsoft's Southwest District—will be there. Go for more info.
  • The presents the second performances of two productions tonight: Adventure to Neverland and Once Upon a Mattress. The former, which happens from 5 to 5:30 p.m., features actors ages 4 to 9; go here for more info. The latter, which runs from 6 to 6:50 p.m., includes actors ages 7 to 12; go here for more info. Admission to each is $10 for adults, $5 for kids.
  • 's Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Concert Winds and Wind Ensemble, as well as the JAMS Jazz clubs, perform a concert at the school from 7 to 9 p.m. Go here for more info.
