Where/When: Main Street; 9:30 a.m. Wednesday
Why go: Enjoy watching the annual 4th of July parade march down Main Street. Accept some weirdness, this year's theme is science and technology. For information on other 4th of July events happening throughout Los Angeles, check out, "."

Where/When: Santa Monica Pier; 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday
Why go: Be there for the kickoff of the 28th annual Twilight Concert Series on the Pier. Lounge by the ocean and listen to beach-ready songs of surfer/troubadour Donavon Frankenreiter and the energetic, soulful tunes of Jeff Young's Song & Dance Society. The concert series continues every Thursday until Sept. 6.

Where/When: The movie screen will be between Wilshire Boulevard and Arizona Avenue, just outside of Chipotle; the movie begins at about 7:30 p.m. The start time is dependent on the sunset. 
Why go: The whole family can enjoy watching this classic coming-of-age tale, The Sandlot, which details the funny shenanigans of a young group of baseball players. Remember to bring blankets and beach chairs.
