1,800 Without Power After Wind Storm

Southern California Edison says nearly 2,000 Santa Monica customers lost power Sunday due to storm-related damage. It estimated power would be back Monday night.

More than 1,000 Southern California Edison customers in Santa Monica were without power Monday due to storm-related damage, officials said.

The power outage was reported in the vicinity of Ocean Park Boulevard near Lincoln Boulevard where 1,063 customers lost power Sunday about 3:58 p.m. due to the windy storm, according to information on SoCal Edison's online outage information center.

Winds blew through Santa Monica for hours Sunday afternoon at speeds of 30 mph.

Affected areas Monday afternoon included Santa Monica, with 1,831 customers without service; Santa Ana, with 986; Rolling Hills, with 137, and Rancho Palos Verdes with 148, said Scott Andresen of Southern California Edison, according to City News Service.

The estimated restoration time was 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Since Saturday, about 145,000 customers throughout Southern California Edison's jurisdiction reported some interruption of electrical service due to the storm.
