Plea Postponed Again in '08 Murder

The Orange County financial adviser accused in the 2008 stabbing death of Alexander Merman is now scheduled to be arraigned March 26.

Arraignment was Wednesday for the Huntington Beach financial adviser charged recently in the 2008 stabbing death of a Russian-born teacher living in Santa Monica.

Daniel Gilbert Becerril II is now scheduled to enter a plea March 26 to that include murder, money laundering and grand theft.

The financial adviser owned API Financial Group and was arrested in Orange County on March 1. He is being held in lieu of $2.4 million bail.

Merman was a Navy veteran who worked at the Los Angeles Unified School District. His body was found March 19, 2008 by his Montana Avenue apartment manager.
