Should Cirque du Soleil Return to Santa Monica?

A meeting will be held Monday night to gauge public opinion about the circus; we also want to hear what you think.

Cirque du Soleil is no stranger to Santa Monica: In 1987, the  introduced the acrobatic extravaganza to U.S. audiences; and in 2009, the show returned with its Kooza program. Now, event organizers are asking to come back to the familiar environs once again.

On Monday night, the Community and Cultural Services Department will solicit opinions from the public regarding what it thinks about Cirque's potential return. The meeting will be held at the  and begin at 7 p.m.

Here at Santa Monica Patch, we also want to hear what you think about a possible Cirque comeback. Are in you in favor of the idea, perhaps because it might help local businesses? Or would you rather the circus find a different location, maybe for fear that it would drive more traffic to the city?
