Showers Likely Tuesday

A winter storm will move into the Southland early Tuesday morning, bringing up to one-half of an inch of rain to the Los Angeles area.

Rain, mountain snow and cooler temperatures are forecast Tuesday as a winter storm rolls across the Southland.

A large cold front currently hovering far off the San Francisco coast will move south into Los Angeles as early as 4 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Santa Barbara and the Central Coast will bear the brunt of the storm. Rainfall totals in Los Angeles and Ventura counties are expected to range between one-tenth and one-half of an inch.

Snow will dust elevations above 4,500 feet Tuesday night. Winter weather advisories are in effect in local mountains, though snow totals will be minimal.

"Things will dry out quickly Wednesday afternoon," meteorologists said. "And, temperatures should recover nicely to just under normal."
