Strong, Gusty Winds to Return Friday

Strong northeast winds will pick up across Los Angeles Friday morning, with gusts up to 25 mph forecast in Santa Monica.

The most powerful winds of 40 mph will blow below passes and canyons from Malibu to the Hollywood Hills. The winds will persist through Saturday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

"Winds may cause tree limbs to break and may displace unsecured objects," Weather Service meteorologists said.

In Santa Monica, temperatures will remain quite chilly Friday, with a bit of a warm up to 67 degrees Saturday. Nighttime lows will be in the mid to upper 40s through the weekend.

Two weeks ago, fierce windstorms knocked out power across Los Angeles and the San Gabriel Valley, leaving hundreds of thousands of residents without electricity.
