In this class you will learn the ancient art of chainmail.  Along with basic chainmail techniques of linking jump rings together, you will make a bracelet out of aluminum or nickel silver rings using the Byzantine chainmail weave. All materials included.

Eileen Kerrigan creates jewelry using chainmail, natural stones, and beads.  She was introduced to chainmail by her nephew a few years ago, and has since become obsessed with the ancient art, and the many different weaves that are a part of it.  By incorporating chainmail with its many patterns and textures into her jewelry she has been able to add another dimension to her jewelry. She enjoys sharing her passion by teaching others the ancient art.  She is a part of the CRAFTED community located in the Port of Los Angeles.  CRAFTED is a year-round craft market that features the work of hundreds of artist and craft people with talent.  Eileen sells her jewelry, teaches classes, and sells beads and jewelry supplies in her market stalls at CRAFTED.

Registration (bring cash to cover material fees) In Person: Advance registration accepted at 1450 Ocean between 9am-5pm M-F & 11am-4pm most Saturdays. Dropping in? Call 310-458-2239 to confirm availability, preferably by the Tuesday before class starts; plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of class; some classes do not allow drop ins.

Refunds/Transfers: A $15.00 processing fee applies for each multisession activity refunded; one-time classes and expended material fees are nonrefundable. Requests must be made in person, by mail, fax (310-899-0840), or email to communityclasses@smgov.net within 24 hours of first class meeting. All class dates, times, locations, and instructors are subject to change. Programs are subject to cancellation if minimum enrollment is not met.

Parking and Transport: Parking is $1 for first 2.5 hours in Parking Structure 6 (2nd between Broadway and Santa Monica), each 30 min. thereafter $1.50, max $14. 120 Broadway, flat $5 after 4pm and weekends.
