1450 Ocean presents: Journals, Diaries, Blogs, and Notebooks: Writing Your Daily Life with Charles Hood

Friday 7/12, 7-9 pm - Cost: $20
call 310-458-2239, email communityclasses@smgov.net, or purchase online at  https://recenroll.smgov.net/adet.sdi?activity_id=34064 to reserve a spot.

Starting with 1450
Ocean’s Camera Obscura, we’ll ask (and answer) the fun question, “how
can we get the most from what we see and do each day?” Using literary
and art world models, we’ll evaluate the ways journals and blogs can
help us focus our observations, as well as how they can serve as a
launching point for longer writing. Some in-class writing; practitioners
of all art forms welcome.

A
Los Angeles native, Charles Hood has been a dishwasher, a factory
worker, a ski instructor, and a nature guide in Africa. He attended
Glendale College, Cal State Northridge, U.C. Irvine and the University
of Utah, and also did Fulbright work in New Guinea, translating tribal
poetry. For birdwatching, photography, or writing research, he has been
to the South Pole (on a National Science Foundation Artists and Writers
Grant), to each of the continents, and most of the way to the North
Pole.
