1450 Ocean presents: Know Your Sewing Machine; Sew a Travel Case with Angharad Caceres

Saturday 11/2, 2-5pm Cost: $20 + $8 cash materials fee (or bring your own materials; call ahead to 310-458-2239). Reserve here.

In this three hour workshop, practice your sewing skills by making an attractive and handy travel case for toiletries and sundries. Some basic machine sewing experience necessary. Bring your sewing machine (easy drop off in front of 1450 Ocean from 1pm.) Bring two 'fat quarters' (18"x22" rectangles) of fabric of your choice and a 18" zipper, and a coordinating spool of thread. Don't forget an empty bobbin that fits your machine! ($8 kit available from teacher as well.)

Angharad Caceres is a lifelong crafter and until recently the owner of the Urban Craft Center in Santa Monica. Beginning with the Campfire group she belonged to in elementary school, she has dabbled in a huge variety of crafts (many of them glue gun dependent) but especially enjoys those that create objects with purpose. Bookbinding, soapmaking, knitting, and sewing are at the top of her list. Teaching has always been a part of her life, from the 4th and 5th grades she taught in Portland, Oregon, to the classes she ran at the Urban Craft Center; she is dedicated to sharing her knowledge and passion for making.
