'Save Chain Reaction' Candlelight Full Moon Gathering to be Held on Martin Luther King's January 15 Birthday

Dr. Martin Luther King will be remembered on what would have been his 85th birthday Wednesday, January 15 at a free-to-the-public 'Save Chain Reaction' Full Moon Candlelight Peace Gathering beginning 7:00PM at the 'Chain Reaction' landmarked peace sculpture in the Santa Monica Civic Center on the 1800 block of Main Street just north of Pico Blvd.

Speakers at the vigil will address Dr. King's opposition to war and nuclear weapons, as well as addressing the timely need to protect and restore the 26-foot tall nuclear mushroom cloud warning monument and peace sculpture that was designed and created by the late 3-time Pulitzer Prize winning political cartoonist Paul Conrad.

Event participants are invited to bring candles to place around the sculpture in memory of the late civil rights leader. Participants are also welcome to share peace poems and songs at the special MLK birthday anniversary and full moon peace gathering.

Dr. King was born January 15, 1929 and was shot and killed on April 4, 1968 at the age of 39.

The public peace event is being sponsored by Save Chain Reaction.
