Tree Hugging Day

The annual Tree Hugging Day public gathering in Santa Monica will once again take place on the Spring Equinox at the Children's Tree of Life.
Tree huggers of all ages are invited on Thursday, March 20 from 6:00pm until 7:00pm to join in a group tree hug around the specially designated "peace tree", which is located in the Santa Monica Palisades Park at Ocean Avenue and Colorado Avenue just north of the Santa Monica Pier.
Participants will also be invited to "branch out" and give hugs to other trees in the nearby park area.
The Children's Tree of Life was planted on Earth Day, April 22, 1983 at a public peace celebration. In 1984 the tree was officially proclaimed "a living monument to world peace" by by late Santa Monica Mayor Ken Edwards.
The theme of this year's event is "Let's bring tree hugging back by popular demand."
