ZJ Boarding House 'Anything But Three' Surf Contest at Tower 26

We’re excited to announce year two of our ‘Anything But Three’ surf contest happening Saturday, September 14th 8am at Santa Monica State Beach Tower 26.  Not your typical surf contest, this is an open contest where all ages and skill levels compete against each other on boards provided by our top surfboard brands.  No thruster boards are allowed, only quads, single fins, twin fins and bonzers (if that’s still a thing!).  You are welcome to bring your own (non 3fin) board but there is no guarantee that you will ride it and someone else might be riding it. Last year was a huge success with over 50 contestants and loads of boards to select from; and the waves were alright, too. This year we’re running the same format, check out  the details below.

-The contest will be held at Santa Monica State Beach Tower 26 (at the end of Ocean Park Blvd.)

-Check in is from 7:00-8:00am.

-The first heat starts promptly at 8:00am

-The contest consists of 4 rounds.  Round 1 is 8, 15 minute heats of 6 surfers where 3 surfers from each heat advance.  Round 2 is 4, 20 minute heats of 6 surfers where 2 surfers from each heat advance.  Round 3 is 2, 20 minute heats of 4 surfers where only 2 advance to the final round which is 4 surfers in 1 heat for 20 minutes.

-Round 1 starts at 8am; round 2 at 10am, round 3 at 11:30 and the final at 12:15pm.  Awards promptly following.

-We will have all sorts of boards from brands like Lost, Firewire, Surftech, Super and more.  Before your heat, you will have to select from a pod of multiple boards.

-If you’re friends want to join the contest we may have some extra spots but beach sign up fee is $30.  Please bring cash.
