GoodMorning, Are you sure the HEAL THE BAY BEACH CLEANUP at MALIBU Surfrider Beach & MALIBU LAGOON is on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 9am? I have been looking online and very confused to see conflicting dates for this clean up. Heal the bay has it down for Sunday, April 22nd, and others have it for Saturday, the 21st. PLEASE VERIFY the correct date and time. THANK YOU!!!!!

When I look onto the City of Malibu website, I dont even see any information about the HEAL THE BAY beach Cleanup at SURFRIDER & MALIBU LAGOON. All I see for the weekend, is the Recycle Program on Saturday & the Earthday celebration for the library and legacy park festivities on Sunday. I know there is alot of events for Earth Day, but we love Malibu and wanted to celebrate Earth day weekend, the Ocean, Beach & Nature at beautiful SURFRIDER BEACH, MALIBU! Please confirm dates, so we can spread the word to family and friends. Thank you.

Why support Heal the Bay? They are the driving force behind the Lagoon bulldozing, the fishing ban in Malibu, and countless lawsuits against the city of Malibu costing all of us. Every time you go for a walk on the beach or any other place in Malibu make a point to pick up 10 pieces of trash. Heal the Bay is a political, money making, self promoting machine that has gone too far.

David, anyone is welcome to blog on Patch, including you.

@david...yes I understand, we are spreading the word to HELP SAVE THE MALIBU LAGOON! Thank you for commenting, as there are many people who just dont know what is happening with Surfrider Beach, The Malibu Lagoon and the Wildlife it breeds. Please help us all understand why this could possibly even be happening to the most beautiful place on Earth, Malibu!
LilMo April 18, 2012 at 08:19 pm
@david, come join us Sunday for a paddleout at 930am

I agree... But I do welcome them... So we can try to educate them on our stance. I'm betting most of the people who show up for the clean up have no idea what heal the bay is supporting. Let's take the opportunity this event offers to try to bring them to our side!

@David
Thanks for posting these very important FACTS that people here in Malibu need to be aware of.

Thank you Jessica, The Why Support Heal the Bay was not directed at the Patch it was a question for the people who read the patch and support Heal the Bay. The Patch is a wonderful place for interactive news, information, and exchange of differing views.

Dave
While I generally support Heal the Bay, I think they are wrong when it comes to the Malibu Lagoon. I will support you in your efforts and hope you will support me as well in my quest to become first Green in Congress. I would be happy to talk to you more about this issue. You can reach me at steinman2012@gmail.com!

Vice President Joe Biden tried Tuesday to rally Congress to act on gun control legislation, sayingRead More that "the country has changed and [politicians] will pay a political price for not getting engaged and dealing with gun safety." "As proud as the president and I am of the progress we have made, we need Congress to act," Biden said in a speech delivered at the White House. "The American people are demanding it. We need to make sure that the voices of the ones we lost are the loudest ones we here in this fight." Specifically, Biden was referring to politicians like Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), who saw her approval rating plummet after she voted against legislation that would expand background checks. Sen. Jeff Flake's (R-AZ) and Sen. Mark Begich's (D-AK) ratings also took a nosedive. On the otherside, Democrats in red states, like Sens. Mary Landrieu (LA) and Kay Hagan (NC), got a slight boost in their approval ratings after they voted in favor of the gun control legislation. The vice president also released a set of federal guidelines Tuesday for developing high quality emergency operations for schools, higher education institutions and places of worship. "We made sure the guide reflects all the lessons we've learned over the years," he said.
