Just when you thought the election season was over and you could go back to playing Angry Birds guilt-free, it's time to get your political mojo fired up and ready to go.
Getting out to vote during the time between the 2012 election and when Hillary runs in 2016 is incredibly important! While the President won, there is still so much work to be done. Remember, small races make a big difference! First up:
The California Democratic Party is holding its Assembly District elections this coming weekend. Six women and six men from WeHo's 50th will be elected to represent WeHo at the 2013 and 2014 State Conventions.
There are a number of incredible LGBT candidates in this race, as well as an eclectic array of passionate progressives from the district. I am one of those folks, running with some amazing women and men on the Stonewall Democratic Club and Progressive Slate. We are a group of experienced community leaders advocating daily for women, LGBT, senior citizens, universal health coverage, environmental, and union rights.
If you're a registered Democrat and live in the 50th Assembly District (Santa Monica, WEHO, much of Hollywood, Hancock Park, Miracle Mile, Malibu, Brentwood, Bel Air, Beverly Hills, Carthay Square, Pacific Palisades, Topanga, as well as parts of the Santa Monica Mountains and Agoura Hill) please come out and cast your ballot!
As with every election, YOUR VOTE FREAKIN' COUNTS!
When: Sunday, January 13th, 1:30pm-3:30pm
Where: McKinley High School, 2401 Santa Monica Blvd., Santa Monica.
