Ex-Olympian to March in Santa Monica Fourth of July Parade

Cindy Brown won a gold medal playing for Team USA women's basketball.

Olympic Gold Medalist Cindy Brown will march in the seventh annual Santa Monica Fourth of July parade.

The 1.5-mile route will take revelers from the the Santa Monica Civic Center at 1855 Main Street south, west on Marine Street and north on Bernard Way before ending just short of Ocean Park Boulevard.

Brown was a two-time all-American at Long Beach State before playing for Team USA in the 1988 Seoul Olympics, where she won gold. Brown was inducted into the Long Beach State Athletic Hall of Fame in 1992.

A number of street closures will be in effect for the parade and organizers said to expect bus delays and detours.
