Jesus, Jesus, Jesus of the Jungle

This Week's Topic:
Transformed in My Relational Health

"I am the vine and you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." John 15:5

If you've ever seen George of the Jungle and know the theme song, that's what this title is referring to. It goes "George, George, George of the jungle, watch out for that treeeee." What we (and George) really need to look out for is the tree of life. The metaphor that we see in the verse here is that we are the branches of a tree and Jesus is the trunk. If we are not connected to Him, we can't bear fruit. We can't be as loving, patient, kind, gentle and self-controlled as we could be if we met with Jesus every day. What if we wrote down what we learned from Him daily. Wouldn't that make us be a little more patient with others? Watch out for the Jesus tree. Most trees hurt when you run into them, but the Jesus tree will hit you hard if you ignore it.

Prayer: God, help me to value my relationship with you the most.

Example: I must have been connected to the Vine in middle school. I have proof of the fruit of the spirit of Joy with this here award. I got the Enthusiasm Award!!!!!! Enthusiasm vs Apathy, "Expressing with my spirit the JOY of my soul." 1 Thessalonians 5:16,19 Aka Jesus' Joy with Jess!!!!!! Est.1995 ;)
