MILLION DOLLAR DIRT

The amount of high-end luxury buyers has grown this past year; with a number of multi-million dollar homes being sold it seems to be encouraging others to start buying again with confidence. According to the Los Angeles Times, statewide 39,145 homes sold for $1 million or more in 2013, up 45% from the year before and the best showing since 2007. In Santa Monica, for the first time last year several properties were listed at or above $25 million. The number of buyers from around the globe is increasing and the celebrity housing market is really heating up in popularity. The city is also seeing more developers investing in million dollar housing and commercial projects, which are becoming quite controversial. On the flip side, more investors are purchasing and remodeling’s properties and putting them back on the market.



The following is a 2013 North of Montana Ave year in review / equity market update.
