Blog | Celebrate Independence Day—a Few Great Options

The low-down on Fourth of July events happening in and near Santa Monica, plus your local real estate news from the 90402 zip code.

It’s always a little strange when a holiday like this falls mid-week but the advantage is that you have plenty of time to plan ahead for optimum celebrating.

If you have not watched the fireworks from the cemetery near Santa Monica College you really should try it this year on Saturday night. Bring some blankets and lawn chairs and get there early to stake out a great spot.

With the Olympics in progress and our national elections just around the corner, you may find yourself feeling more patriotic than usual. If so, you can get out again on Wednesday to Palisades High or Malibu and see more fireworks displays or for a super local experience, a trip up to the Franklin or Berkeley Hill will give you a great view of the display that the Brentwood Country Club puts on.

ACTIVE/AVAILABLE LISTINGS

525 24th St.: 6bd + 6.5ba., $4.99 million, this home’s construction was completed a little over a year ago, was sold for $4.5 million and now is available again. Six bedrooms, 6.5 baths, full basement and pool. Probably will sell very quickly.

NEW SALES (IN ESCROW/PENDING)

408 17th St.: 5bd + 4.5ba., $3.29 million, this is one of my favorite remodeled homes in the neighborhood. It was tastefully redone a few years ago, sold to an A- list actor and re-sold a few years after that. Much of the original charm remains.

415 17th St.: 5bd + 5.5ba., $4.85 million, new construction built in 2011.  Beautiful and sophisticated traditional home  north of Montana Ave.

524 15th St.: 3bd + 4.5ba., $3.55 million, this home has never looked better than it does now. Only two bedrooms upstairs but the master is terrific. Super quiet street. A short walk to Montana Ave.
