What do fitness, prom and the south have in common?

Santa Monica-based Youth Fitness + Media Company brings Prom and Fitness to the South with Franco’s fitness facilities.

Santa Monica-based Youth Fitness + Media Company brings Prom and Fitness to the South with Franco’s fitness facilities.

“It’s not uncommon for many of us to feel like we have to “get in shape” when it comes time for a special event. High School girls are certainly no different as the media, pop-culture and peer pressure constantly remind them,” says Sandy Franco, one of the owners of Francos, an independently owned chain of Fitness Clubs in New Orleans. “As a mom of a teenage girl who is going to prom this year I thought  that PromFit was a great program that would bring a lot of value to girls in our community.” For year fitness clubs have tried to figure out how to get more teens working out. O2 MAX engages these young women online and provides them with an affordable training and nutrition program that gets them ready for prom in a fun, healthy way.

PromFit is an online based personalized fitness, food and fashion program that helps girls get ready for prom-the right way. PromFit was started by Karen Jashinsky, the founder of O2 MAX Fitness who is also one of the leading experts on teen fitness and social media. PromFit integrates social media, technology and fitness to create a personalized fitness program that delivers results while reaching girls where they are today-online. By partnering with Franco’s girls will get the best of both worlds - fitness coaching online as well as access to a trainer in their community. Girls learn about their bodies, dresses that are best suited for them, fitness and healthy eating habits.

“The concept for PromFit developed over the years as I was working as a personal trainer and would get questions from girls looking to lose weight for Prom. These high school students were really busy, wanted some extra workouts and wanted it to be social yet personalized and of course cheap. I was determined to figure out how to do this,” says Karen.

Teens live in a world today where they are accustomed to immediate responses and instant gratification. Girls can submit a picture of themselves via email to get a fitness and fashion consultation.  Within 24 hours they get their personalized response which includes a fitness and fashion consultation. “Our mission is to be the go-to, trustworthy source that parents can trust and girls want to go to,” says Karen. PromFit creates a personalized experience for girls while also teaching them more about themselves along the way with its proprietary questioning methods created by Karen.

PromFit demonstrates that fitness can be empowering and fun by placing a strong emphasis on being fit, strong and confident while learning about their body along the way. When girls sign up they submit a full length picture and get a personalized fitness and fashion consultation as well as a fitness program. O2 MAX has created a shorter version of its PromFit program to work with girls in the Mandeveille, LA area. “I’m excited to launch our Accelerator Program with Francos. It is a shorter version of PromFit that gives girls a jump start on getting more consistent with workouts and better nutrition. Over the years I have found that girls are more likely to stick to a fitness and nutrition regimen even after Prom is over.” Francos will be offering girls in the Mandeveille, LA area a free workout with a personal trainer Monday at 7 PM to kick off the 7 Day PromFit Accelerator program.  The 7 day PromFit Accelerator program which costs $50 and gives girls access to workouts at Francos along with the PromFit program at Francos. Girls can sign up on www.promfitness.com or by emailing prom@o2maxfitness.com for more information.

Vice President Joe Biden tried Tuesday to rally Congress to act on gun control legislation, sayingRead More that "the country has changed and [politicians] will pay a political price for not getting engaged and dealing with gun safety." "As proud as the president and I am of the progress we have made, we need Congress to act," Biden said in a speech delivered at the White House. "The American people are demanding it. We need to make sure that the voices of the ones we lost are the loudest ones we here in this fight." Specifically, Biden was referring to politicians like Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), who saw her approval rating plummet after she voted against legislation that would expand background checks. Sen. Jeff Flake's (R-AZ) and Sen. Mark Begich's (D-AK) ratings also took a nosedive. On the otherside, Democrats in red states, like Sens. Mary Landrieu (LA) and Kay Hagan (NC), got a slight boost in their approval ratings after they voted in favor of the gun control legislation. The vice president also released a set of federal guidelines Tuesday for developing high quality emergency operations for schools, higher education institutions and places of worship. "We made sure the guide reflects all the lessons we've learned over the years," he said.
