Family, Dignitaries, Celebrate Santa Monica Vet's 92nd Birthday

Harry Hunt Jr. is a WWII veteran and received birthday wishes Aug. 29 from President Barak Obama, Governor Jerry Brown and Mayor Pam O'Connor, among others.

Santa Monica resident and WWII veteran Harry Hunt Jr. celebrated his 92nd birthday on Aug. 29 surrounded by family, and received well wishes from some high profile dignitaries.

Hunt, who was the official bugler for Santa Monica’s annual Memorial Day ceremony for many years, received some very special VIP greetings from a slew of high profile dignitaries including President Barak and First Lady Michelle Obama, Governor Jerry Brown, Senator Dianne Feinstein, Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky and the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and Mayor Pam O’Connor and the Santa Monica City Council.

Born in 1921, Hunt moved with his family to Santa Monica when he was only a few months old – where he lives to this day. He comes from a long line of plastering contractors and many of the buildings in downtown Santa Monica were plastered by Harry or another Hunt family member.
