3 Men Plead Not Guilty in Santa Monica Pier Stabbings

Three men, one woman and a male minor were arrested following the incident on Jan. 18.

Three men pleaded not guilty to two counts of attempted murder, following an altercation that led to the stabbing of two fishermen on Santa Monica Pier on Jan. 18.

Three men, one woman and a 16-year-old male were arrested following the incident.  The two men –Gilberto Dorado and Antonio Castillo – were taken to a nearby trauma center and are expected to survive.

Araik Ovoian, 24, pleaded not guilty to two counts of attempted murder, said Ricardo Santiago, spokesman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office, reports The Burbank Leader.

According to The Leader, the other two men, Gevork Bagdasaryan, 19, and Alex Akbari, 18, each pleaded not guilty to one count of attempted murder and one count of assault with a deadly weapon.

The district attorney declined to file charges against 21-year-old  Agavni Manukyan, initially arrested in connection with the crime, Santiago said.

No  information was forthcoming on what charges, if any, were made against the 16-year-old.
