61-Year-Old Pedestrian Struck by Car, Killed Crossing Ocean Avenue

Her 32-year-old daughter was also hit by the sports coupe.

A female pedestrian has died and her daughter has been hospitalized with minor injuries after they were struck by a hit-and-run driver near the Santa Monica beachfront early this morning.

The 61-year-old and her 32-year-old daughter were struck as they crossed the 1700 block of Ocean Avenue, near Seaside Terrace, at 1 a.m., Santa Monica Police Department Sgt. Jay Moroso said.

The elder victim, from Wisconsin, died at a hospital at 2 a.m., Moroso said.

The suspect's vehicle was a silver sports coupe with tinted windows, he said.

The Ocean Avenue exit from Palisades Beach Road, also known as Pacific Coast Highway, would be closed until 8 a.m. Moroso said.
