Additional Stabbing Alleged in Santa Monica Murder

Prosecutors file two charges against man accused of killing his former classmate at a Santa Monica party.

The Santa Monica man accused of murdering his high school classmate, also allegedly stabbed a minor in the hand as she attempted to break up the deadly fight, police said Friday.

Los Angeles County prosecutors have charged Ryan Tyler Bright with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder in the killing of Jensen Gray, 27, of Laguna Beach.

Bright is scheduled to enter a plea July 26, according to the District Attorney's office.

The former Laguna Beach High School students were at a party early Wednesday morning at an apartment in downtown Santa Monica .

A Santa Monica Police Department spokeswoman has said the men knew each other, but would not comment on the extent of their relationship.

Bright, 26, had only recently relocated to Santa Monica. It was not clear if he was living in the at 425 Broadway St., where the murder occurred.

He and Gray had multiple convictions in Orange County for drug possession and other charges.

Online jail records showed Bright remains jailed in lieu of $1 million bail.
