Alleged Robbers Used Pepper Spray in Home Invasion

Santa Monica Police investigate robbery on Franklin Street allegedly involving two Simi Valley residents.

Police have arrested two Simi Valley residents suspected of robbing a home in the 1200 block of Franklin Street in Santa Monica.

The alleged robbers fired pepper-spray at the resident and made off with money and a laptop, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.

The robbery occurred about 8:45 a.m. Feb. 2.

Caitlin Lynn Johnson, 19, and Jeremy Pulkrapek, 35, were arrested three days later on suspicion of robbery after investigators served multiple search warrants in Simi Valley, said Sgt. Richard Lewis.

The victim told responding officers that on Feb. 2 he was awakened by the sound of someone kicking in his front door. When he walked out of his bedroom, he was pepper-sprayed.

Investigators said the night before, one of the suspects had visited the Franklin Street home with a friend of the alleged victim.

"The victim’s friend did not play a role in the robbery," according to Santa Monica police. "The investigation continues, as there is one outstanding suspect still being sought/identified."

Johnson is being held in Los Angeles County jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. Pulkrapek's bail was set at $110,000. They are both scheduled to appear in court Feb. 25.
