Apple Store Ransacked of $31,000 in Phones, Computers

A bag stuffed with computers and iPhones—valued at $31,000—was found last week by police responding to reports of a burglary alarm sounding at the on the Third Street Promenade.

The Santa Monica Police Department suspects four Los Angeles residents hid the bag behind a wall at 233 Wilshire Blvd. after they used a sledgehammer to break through the store's glass doors. Surveillance video reportedly shows two men, a women and a teenage girl ransacking the place at about 4 a.m. May 9.

The suspects fled out of the store, presumably, when the burglary alarms rang.

Arrested in connection with the burglary were Markeishia Harris, 19; Aaron Sanders, 18; Orenthal Sanders, 19; and a 17-year-old. They were stopped by police as they drove north on Third Street from Wilshire in a Chevy Impala, according to Sgt. Richard Lewis.

"The females were wearing clothing that matched the clothing worn by the females who broke into the Apple Store," Lewis said. And, "additional evidence tying the suspects to the burglary was located inside the vehicle."

Each of the suspects were booked on suspicion of burglary and conspiracy to commit a crime.
