Armed Robbery at Liquor Store

The suspect appears to have surrendered.

An armed robbery took place at in Santa Monica on Tuesday afternoon, the has confirmed. The suspect has apparently surrendered, and there have been no reported injuries.

The suspect used a knife during the robbery. It is unclear what was stolen from the liquor store.

After the robbery, the suspect fled the store and ran into a neighboring apartment building.

Upon receiving a related call at 2:37 p.m., police responded to the scene and set up a perimeter. They also established a command post at 20th and Pico, the intersection where the liquor store is located.

"The suspect refused to exit for some time," Sgt. Richard Lewis told Santa Monica Patch, but "it appears he has given himself up."

Officers are still trying to identify the suspect and clear the apartment building.
