Arrests Made Following String of Street Robberies

The robberies occurred in April and May in Santa Monica and West Los Angeles.

Arrests have been made following a string of street robberies that occurred in Santa Monica and West Los Angeles in April and May, the Los Angeles Police Department announced Wednesday.

The LAPD said the arrests, which were made May 18, were a joint effort with the . One of the suspects admitted to taking part in multiple robberies in the Southwest and 77th Division, according to the LAPD.

Police also identified a vehicle allegedly used in the robberies: a two-door 1999 Volkswagen Beetle with the license plate "4GMR035-CA." There was damage to the passenger side of the car, police said.

On Apr. 26, three masked suspects robbed a person of an estimated $1.5 million in jewelry in an apparent heist in an alley near Wilshire Blvd. and 21st St. At least one of the suspects had a gun.

Police said cell phones, a purse and cash were among the other items stolen in the robberies.
