Assaults Lead to Arrests in Downtown Santa Monica
Crimes reported by Santa Monica Police from April 2-6.
A Simi Valley man was free on $30,000 bail Thursday on suspicion of head-butting his girlfriend in front of a downtown Santa Monica bar.
Christian Banerjee, 22, was arrested on April 6 following the altercation outside the Circle Bar at 2936 Main St., according to Santa Monica Police.
Banerjee and his girlfriend were in a fight when he allegedly head-butted the woman in the face, police said. The girlfriend was checked into a local ER for treatment.

Days earlier, George Elvis Cantrell, who is homeless, was arrested on April 2 on suspicion of assault at the Third Street Promenade food court.
Investigators reported that the victim, a downtown ambassador, saw Cantrell smoking and asking him not to smoke along Third Street.

When the ambassador tried to walk away, Cantrell is accused of kicking him in the buttocks, according to police.
Cantrell was released the same day on $20,000 bail.
