Briefs: DNA Tied to Suspected Purse Snatcher

Police lifted DNA from the purse after a woman was thrown to the ground during an attempted robbery in October, and other notable arrests Feb. 4-9 by the Santa Monica Police Department.

DNA evidence has reportedly linked a 20-year-old man to an attempted robbery in the fall near 14th and Pearl streets, police said.

Investigators received a hit in early January off a DNA swab from a purse a man tried to snatch Oct. 24 from a woman walking in the 2300 block of 14th.

The woman told police that she heard someone run up from behind her, then felt someone grab her purse and attempt to pull it from her. She was thrown to the ground, but she held on to the purse.
