Near 26th Street and Colorado Avenue, the driver slammed on his brakes and wound up on the curb, according to Peña. He said there was a chain reaction collision with the suspect's car getting rear-ended by a sheriff's vehicle, which was rear-ended by a second patrol car.

"The suspects took off on foot, two males and one female, and they were all taken into custody very quickly," Peña said.

The sergeant said he did know if the suspects were the same ones being investigated by the department, or if it was coincidental. Their names were being withheld until they are booked into jail on suspicion of burglary.

One deputy suffered a minor injury, but it was unclear if the injury was sustained during the crash or while arresting the suspect, Peña said.
