Resisting arrest & Public drunkenness

At approximately 4:13 p.m. on Nov. 17, an officer saw the a homeless man sitting in the 1800 block of Ocean Front Walk drinking an alcoholic beverage in violation of State code. The officer stopped the subject and started to write him a citation for the violation with the intent on releasing him after he signed the citation. While the officer was conducting a computer check of the subject in his vehicle and his attention was diverted away from the subject for a moment, the subject walked away. As the officer tried to catch up to him, the subject fled. The subject was caught in the 100 block of Bay Street. When the officer tried to arrest him, the subject became belligerent and at one point, spit sunflower seeds at the officer. The subject refused commands by the police officer to comply and the officer requested back-up. When officers arrived, he continued to refuse commands by the officers to comply with their attempt to arrest him. He was taken into custody by the officers, but he actively resisted the officers by tensing up and not allowing them to handcuff him. He was eventually handcuffed and taken to jail.

Domestic Violence

At 12:11 p.m. on Nov. 15, officers responded to a domestic violence call in the 1800 block of Marine Street. When officers arrived they found the victim inside of her residence who told them that she and the suspect have a child in common, but that the suspect does not currently live there and she and the suspect are not currently in a dating relationship. She had heard someone inside of her residence. When she looked, she saw the suspect in the living room and he was taking a key off her key ring. When she confronted him and told him that he could not take the key he pushed her to the floor. The suspect walked out of the victim’s residence with the key and walked down the street, which was when responding units spotted him and stopped him. The suspect was arrested and an Emergency Protective Order was granted for the victim.

Drug Possession

At 10:22 a.m. on Nov. 13, officers responded to a radio call to assist LAPD officers at the intersection of Main and Hill Streets in Santa Monica. The LAPD officer told SMPD officers that he was driving in the 2600 block of Main St when a citizen flagged him down regarding a woman acting crazy. He spotted the woman who was yelling at people and at one point picked up a metal table from in front of the Starbucks coffee house, threw it on the ground, and kept walking. The SMPD officer started talking to the subject and noticed that she exhibited signs that that she had been drinking and was under the influence of a drug. Further investigation revealed that earlier in the day she had assaulted a female in the area of Main Street and Ashland Avenue where she allegedly pulled a victim down to the ground by her hair for no reason. A search of the subject revealed that she had marijuana, cocaine, and methamphetamine in her possession.

Domestic Violence

At approximately 2:51 p.m. on Nov. 12, officers responded to a family disturbance call in the 700 block of 21st Place. The victim told officers that she was in a brief dating relationship with the subject. They ended their relationship amicably. In June of this year the victim began receiving Facebook emails from the subject professing his love for the victim and his desire to re-engage their relationship. The emails turned into unsolicited phone calls and Instagram messages from the subject. When the same sentiments were not returned by the victim, the messages from the subject turned into messages in which he told the victim that he hated her and that the victim did not care about him. The victim became further fearful of the subject when he showed up at the victim’s residence. Officers were called to the scene on one occasion and told the victim that he was not to trespass on the victim’s property or that he would be arrested in the future. On Nov. 12, the victim called the police again when the subject appeared at the victim’s residence and knocked on the victim’s door. The victim called the police and told the responding officers that she wanted the subject arrested for stalking. The officers were able to contact the subject at the victim’s location and arrest him.
