Briefs: Boyfriend Allegedly Ransacks Home

The girlfriend was reportedly injured during the incident, and other notable arrests Feb. 17-24.

After police allege he ransacked the apartment he shared with his girlfriend and smashed the phone she used to call 911, a Santa Monica man was arrested Feb. 24 on suspicion of corporal injury.

The incident happened at about 1:30 p.m.

The woman called police after the 43-year-old man allegedly threw a "large bedroom object" at her and also struck her as he swiped the phone, causing minor injuries, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.

He was taken into custody after he reportedly fled from the residence in the 1700 block of Centinela Avenue.

Police booked him into the Santa Monica Jail on suspicion of making criminal threats, assault with a deadly weapon, damaging a communications device and corporal injury.

Illegal firecrackers: An 18-year-old from Venice was arrested on suspicion of possession of dangerous fireworks. Police said they found he was carrying 80 illegal firecrackers. The officers searched the teen while responding to a call at about 3:55 p.m. Feb. 24 about a fight among students outside of Tommie's at Lincoln and Pico boulevards. Though there was no fight, officers said after they approached the Venice teen about riding his bike on the sidewalk, instead of the street, he consented to the search.

Theft: A homeless woman was arrested about noon Feb. 24 after allegedly stealing clothes from Sears. Officers said they found the 24-year-old at the nearby Holiday Inn wearing the apparel she was allegedly spotted stealing earlier.
