Police searched Murstein and reportedly found several receipts from other restaurants outside the city. They called the restaurants and said they learned the woman had walked out without paying her bill each time.

Suspected Armed Robber Found With Pot, Knife

A homeless Santa Monica man matching the description of an armed robber wanted in connection with several thefts was arrested Saturday in the 900 block of Arizona Avenue.

Lorenzo Brooks, 46, was riding his bike with no headlight at about 7:30 p.m. when officers attempted to contact him. Brooks allegedly fled into a carport at 1307 Ninth Street and hid behind a parked car. He told police he didn't have any identification, but allegedly admitted to being on probation for burglary.

After searching him, officers said they found a replica semi-automatic handgun (.177 mm air gun) that resembled a Beretta PX4 concealed inside his jacket, a knife and marijuana. Officers also said Lorenzo matched the description of a suspect wanted for several prior armed robberies where the suspect had wielded a handgun.

He was booked on suspicion of riding a bike with no forward headlight and no visible rear reflector; possession of marijuana less than one ounce; probable cause robbery and a probation violation. Bail set at $50,000.
