Do You Agree with De La Torre's Criticisms About the SMPD?

The SMMUSD school board member has said a recent probe "exposed the cancer" in the police department.

Earlier this week, Oscar de la Torre told Patch that a by the Los Angeles County Office of Independent Review "" in the . He claims that the department's child-endangerment investigation of him was inappropriate.

“The intent of all this work by Sgt. Dave Thomas and the police department was to put me in jail, put a felony on my record, take me away from my family and force me to spend a tremendous amount of money on my defense," he said.

In response, SMPD spokesman Sgt. Jay Trisler told Patch, “There are two different entities that said the investigation was appropriate. We’re a professional organization."
