Fatal Traffic Accident, Pedestrian Killed on Lincoln Boulevard

A Culver City woman traveling southbound on Lincoln Boulevard in Santa Monica, struck and killed a pedestrian as he crossed the road early Wednesday morning.

A 54-year-old man was struck and killed by a car at Lincoln Boulevard and Pier Avenue in the early hours of Wednesday morning, reports the Santa Monica Police Department.

At approximately 12:09 a.m. police responded to the area of Lincoln Boulevard and Pier Avenue regarding a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle.

The preliminary initial investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle, a 34-year-old female resident of Culver City, was traveling southbound on Lincoln Boulevard and the pedestrian crossed Lincoln Boulevard, eastbound, in front of her vehicle. The driver stated that she did not see the pedestrian until her vehicle struck him.

The pedestrian, a 54-year-old-male, sustained major trauma to his body as a result of the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s name is being withheld pending the notification of family.

The driver of the vehicle was cooperative throughout the investigation and was determined to not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.  After being interviewed, she was released pending further investigation.
