Firefighters knocked down a brushfire that broke out this morning among some pine trees off the eastbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway near the San Diego (405) Freeway in West Los Angeles.
The flames burned near the connector road between the eastbound 10 and the southbound 405 near Butler Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department and the California Highway Patrol.
The brushfire was reported at 7:13 a.m., said fire department spokeswoman Katherine Main, adding that three engine companies, one truck company and a battalion chief -- for a total of 16 firefighters -- were sent to the scene.
A knockdown was declared at 7:34 a.m., Main said. However, firefighters were still at the scene as of 8 a.m. to put out any hotspots.
