Man Flees After Robbing Chase Bank
The man ran off with cash Tuesday afternoon after handing a demand note to a teller at the downtown bank, police said.
Police are searching for a heavyset man in green pants who robbed a downtown Chase Bank on Tuesday of an undisclosed amount of cash.
Witnesses reported that a man entered the bank, approached a teller and demanded money by way of a note. After receiving cash from the teller, the suspect fled on foot, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.
The robbery occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m. at the Chase at 1333 4th St., between Arizona Avenue and Santa Monica Bouelvard.

Sgt. Richard Lewis said police were not ready to disclose how much cash he stole or what the note said.
The man's face is visible on images captured by surveillance cameras. He was wearing green Dockers pants, a relaxed button-up shirt with yellow shirt with green stripes and white tennis shoes.

He was also described as black, in his mid-40s and 5 feet, 8 inches tall. He is heavyset with a "big belly," police said.
