Man Admits to Killing Estranged Wife, Gets 75 Years in Prison

Kelvin Melvin Green admitted stabbing his estrange wife 41 times at an Albertson's where she worked.

A man accused of fatally stabbing his estranged wife at a Santa Monica supermarket where she worked pleaded guilty to murder, Santa Monica police announced Friday.

Kelvin Melvin Green, 55, entered a plea of guilty on Wednesday for the murder of Christina Talley, 46, and was sentenced immediately to 75 years to life in prison.

Prosecutors say, on Aug. 21, 2011, Green parked his car at the now-shuttered Albertson’s, located at 3105 Wilshire Bvld., entered the store and approached Talley from behind where she was working at the cash register.

Shoppers tried to stop Green but were unsuccessful. Santa Monica police recovered the murder weapon nearby and arrested Green the next day.
