Man Arrested in Pico Neighborhood Shooting

Jeremy Emmanuel Gonzalez is accused of attempted murder in the shooting, which injured a woman.

A Santa Monica man was arrested last week on suspicion of shooting and injuring a woman in the Pico neighborhood, police announced Monday.

Jeremy Emmanuel Gonzalez, 21, was arrested on April 9 on suspicion of attempted murder, shooting at a vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon and promoting street gang activity, according to Santa Monica Police Sgt. Richard Lewis.

Gonzalez was being held in lieu of $1.04 million bail, according to jail records. Gonzalez has affiliations with the Santa Monica 17th Street gang, Lewis said.

The shooting occurred on April 2 on 20th Street and Delaware Avenue in Santa Monica.

A known local gang member was stopped in a vehicle at a red light with two female passengers when Gonzalez allegedly walked up and opened fire, striking one of the women, Lewis said.

The woman's injuries were not serious, according to Lewis. She was driven to a local hospital, where she was dropped off.

Gonzalez is due in court on Wednesday.
