Man Booked for Public Drunkenness, Obstructing Police Officer

Christopher Wolfsonsagot was arrested an hour after scaling a chain link fence, and running around outside a supermarket.

On Sept. 26 at 4:23 p.m. Santa Monica Police officers responded to a call of a threats investigation in the 700 block of Michigan Ave.  While conducting the investigation, the subject ran away from the officers.  He was able to scale a 6’ chain link fence separating the street from the I-10 freeway.  The subject ran into the eastbound lanes of the freeway, causing vehicles to come to a screeching halt.  The subject ran across the center median of the freeway and crossed the freeway to the other side.  The person that called in the threats report declined to prosecute for the offense.

Officers did not give chase across the freeway, however, a City, Animal Control Officer broadcasted over their police radio that there a person was creating a disturbance near their animal shelter (1640 9th St.). The subject description matched that of the one that ran from the officers and was in close proximity to where he had fled.  Officers responded but were not able to locate the subject.

At 5:04 p.m. officers were dispatched to the Vons Market at 710 Broadway Ave. regarding an intoxicated person in the area, running around  in the street.  Officers responded but were still not able to locate the subject.  At approximately 5:19 p.m. a SMPD Park Ranger and Downtown Services Officer spotted the subject standing at a bus stop in the 1500 block of 4th St.  The officer from the initial call and some of the subsequent calls  responded, positively identified the subject, and determined that the subject was under the influence of alcohol to the point where he could not care for himself.
