The man was identified as a 25-year-old Santa Monica man.

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office has identified the man who fell to his death after walking off the roof of a Santa Monica medical building as 25-year-old Daniel William Schast of Santa Monica.

Schast walked off the roof of the Medical Centre of Santa Monica, 2001 Santa Monica Blvd., shortly after 1 p.m. Nov. 25 after apparently getting his prescription filled at the pharmacy in the building, Santa Monica Police Sgt. Jay Moroso said. He died at the scene.

Schast’s sister, Sierra, told the Santa Monica Mirror that he brother was diagnosed with catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia or CPVT, a rare heart condition that is often the cause of sudden cardiac deaths in young people.
