Not Down To Earth at Urth Caffé

Jeremy Ryan Cushing was arrested at the Santa Monica cafe for being under the influence of a controlled substance, but said he did not know where he was or what was happening to him.

On Sept. 23, at 5:33 a.m., Santa Monica Police officers were dispatched to 2327 Main St (Urth Caffé) regarding a vandalism occurring.

Employees were detaining the suspect.  Officers noticed that he was speaking incoherently and rambling and talking about how good he felt.  His clothes were wet and had sand on them.  During the conversation with the officers, he admitted to taking “acid,” a term commonly used for Lysergic acid diethylamide or LSD.  He also appeared to be hallucinating.

The officers conducted a physical field sobriety check of the subject and formed the opinion that he was under the influence of a central nervous system stimulant and/or hallucinogen.  He was subsequently arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance.
