One Killed in McClure Tunnel Four Vehicle Crash

Crash closes westbound I-10 lanes in Santa Monica. One vehicle becomes completely engulfed in flames.

At least one person was killed early Saturday morning in a four-vehicle crash in the McClure Tunnel where the Santa Monica (10) Freeway meets Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica, authorities said.

The crash was reported at 1:35 a.m. in the westbound lanes, said California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball.

One of the vehicles became fully engulfed in flames, he said.

A SigAlert was issued at 2:05 a.m. and westbound traffic was being diverted at Fourth Street, Kimball said.

The victim's body was visible underneath one of the wrecked vehicles, said a news photographer at the scene.
