Plea Entered in Airport Nail Throwing Case

Venice man sentenced for peppering the driveways of Santa Monica flight schools with nails.

A Venice man who scattered hundreds of roofing nails on the driveways of Santa Monica Airport flight schools was sentenced to 25 days of community service after entering a no contest plea to misdemeanor vandalism, the Santa Monica Daily Press reported.

In May, a Santa Monica Police Department employee allegedly caught Jeremiah Kean Mayman peppering 1.5-inch roofing nails across the driveways as he rode by on an 18-speed bicycle, according to the newspaper.

The newspaper reported a total of more than 600 nails reportedly appeared May 8, May 10, May 18 and May 31 in the driveways at Justice Aviation, American Flyers and Krueger Aviation.
